Is it almost November already?
In related news, I want to knit some socks. If only to join one of the knitting groups at NaBloPoMo. I've always wanted to sit at the cool kids' table, and socks seem like they could be my way in. So I'm off to the yarn store now to buy myself some yarn.
Yeah, I know there are about eight million knit-along groups I could join, too. But those folks are hard-core, you know. I haven't worked up the nerve to ask to sit at their tables yet. Because I'm sort of an idiot that way.
I don't know of any knitting groups too cool to be friendly-just walk up and say hi!
I attracted a huge amount of attention knitting socks on the bus this morning-no one had seen someone knitting with 5 needles before, and I had a crowd leaning in to look closer-sweaters never attract that kind of public attention ; ) We do have a great socknitters yahoogroup also. Enjoy! ~lmc

I agree, knitters are a welcoming bunch. The only problem is that some of those KALs are apparently populated by people who must knit for a living, because they invariably go so much faster than I can that its soon more of a tagalong than a knitalong.

Warning: socks are ADDICTIVE.

I just started knitting again. After 20 years of dormancy, I must admit I've forgotten everything. So I'm starting with a basic scarf. A basic scarf with lots of added/dropped stitches along the way....

Now you're going to make me knit socks so I can be in the cool group too, eh? I actually just bought sock yarn, fortuitous, no?
