Over at The Xpat Files, Swissmiss reminded me of that bloggy meme that summarizes the previous year by taking the first lines of the first posts you wrote each month. At the end of 2006, I was struck by how often I started the month thinking about the blog. At the end of 2007, I am struck by how often I ignored the blog.
There were only three months where my monthly archive went past a single scroll-down page, and only in November did I exceed two pages. I'm not quite obsessive enough to count up my 2007 posts, but clearly, there were a lot less of them.
Ah well.
Here's the 2007 list:
- I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday, and looking forward to great things in 2007.
- So it was probably obvious that January wasn't going to be the only Month Of The Dissertation, right?
- The public library and its books have not loomed as large in our reading lives since kindergarten began.
- I didn't really observe Lent this year.
- Wilder's class guinea pig died last week, and because kindergarten is the new first grade, everyone wrote about their favorite memories of Snuggles.
- Although the last few weeks at school have been a bit of a free-for-all, Elba, Gemma, and Wilder have had an academic-intensive year at "kindergarten."
- We're just back from our annual pilgrimage up north to the cabin.
- If not for a family obligation, my mother would have been leaving work at the usual time tonight.
- Elizabeth asked how the first week went.
- Laura at 11D wrote about her pleasure in having a clean house but her vague sense of unease, even guilt, in relying on the labors of another to help achieve it.
- Here we go....
- UPromise dropped a note in my inbox today, letting me know that it's the six-year anniversary of my enrollment and hey, could I please update my profile?
I have found that as time goes by I start exploring much deeper topics in my head and then wonder if I should even blog about them...
Oh well...
Sorry to hear about the loss of the guinea pig...

How's the dissertation going?
Ignore this question if it's not going as you would like it to :).

I had a similar experience, going back and reading my posts from this year--my blog was not exactly neglected, but I wasn't exactly prolific, either.
